We are open to the public, however, we ask that patrons take precautions to limit the possible transmission of illness.  We encourage patrons to wear face masks and practice social distancing.  We are closing 30 minutes earlier each day to allow time for cleaning.

We offer programming for all ages.  The After School Program runs monthly during the academic year for Elementary Students.  Teen Game Day, Teen Craft Day, and Dungeons & Dragons run year-round.

Join our Summer Library Program and Summer Reading Programs during the summer.  We have activities for everyone!

Our adult book club, Between the Covers, meets monthly for book discussion and fellowship.  We also have regular presentations and activities- check our calendar for more information.

Summer Library Program

Join us for our Summer Library Program! Our theme this year is Imagine Your Story, and we are excited to explore all kinds of fairytales, folktales, and stories with you.

We have reading programs for kids age 4-4th grade, teens in 5th-12th grade, and even adults. The program runs from June 15-July 26. There will even be prizes available at the end of the program.

In an effort to keep our community safe, we will not be holding any in-person activities for this year’s Summer Library Program. Please enjoy our take-home activity packets available for toddlers & preschoolers, kids, and teens to keep you engaged and learning all summer.

For adults summer reading selections can be logged at home and returned after the six-week program concludes. Books and audiobooks must be checked out from the library.  Weekly writing prompts are published in the adult section of this website and in The Hartley Sentinel- Everly/Royal News.Writing selections must be turned in on a weekly basis by the deadline to paraticipate in a prize drawing.

Contact the library for additional information about any of our programs. Register at the library starting June 15th or online by emailing sarah.pearce@hartley.lib.ia.us.
