For Parents

Parents, we have lots to offer for you and your children.  We have books for kids of all ages including board books for toddlers, picture books, step-into-reading books for emerging readers, chapter books, and Young Adult books aimed at teens.  We even have manga and comics, which appeal to readers of all ages.  We also have a variety of children's movies and puzzles for checkout.

We have a children's space in the library with toys and seating where children and their caretakers can enjoy some time together in a quiet space.  Feel free to stop in and spend some time reading or playing together!

Teens can come in alone or with an adult to enjoy our teen space, which includes comfortable furniture and charging plug-ins for electronic devices.  We also have a Wii gaming system with games, which can be played in the library.

Kids' Programming

After School Program
Winter After School take-home activity kits are available at the library! Designed for ages 5-10. Kits include crafts and activities designed to be completed with adult supervision and assistance. Pick up kits during regular library hours, while supplies last.

Summer Reading Program
We offer a reading program every summer for kids ages 4-18.  We change things up regularly, so ask at the library for more information.

Participation in a summer reading program can keep your children reading while they aren't at school.  This can help them keep their skills sharp and combat the "summer slide" which results in lower test scores and academic achievement.  Even if you choose not to participate in our program, we are happy to offer a wide selection of books for checkout to keep your kids engaged and busy over the summer months.

Summer Library Program
We offer a series of activities and events at the library each summer, for kids of all ages.  Come join us for stories, crafts, games, and presentations by local educational agencies like the Sanford Museum & Planetarium and the O'Brien County Conservation Board.  Ask for more details at the library come summertime!
