Between the Covers book club will be discussing JoJo Moyes “The Giver of Stars” when they meet at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 25, in the front room of Hartley Public Library. Set in Depression-era America this story tells of five women and their journey through the Kentucky mountains delivering books as part of Eleanor Roosevelt’s new traveling library. Refusing to be intimidated by men or convention the women are undeterred by danger in their quest to bring books to those who have never owned one, arming the recipients with facts that will change their lives. Based on a true story this book gives a strong sense of place and history and lends credibility to the power of reading. Moyes has authored other books including the popular “Me Before You” and “One Plus One”. Join us for a discussion of JoJo Moyes, “The Giver of Stars” this month at the Hartley Public Library.
