Between the Covers will be discussing F. Scott Fitzgerald’s “The Great Gatsby” when they meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 28, in the front room of the library. Midwesterner, Nick Caraway, moves to Long Island in the spring of 1922, and rents a small house next to a mansion owned by Jay Gatsby, known for his wild parties and secretive past. Daisy, Nick’s beautiful cousin, and her husband Tom Buchanan live in the exclusive area of East Egg across the bay and Nick begins dating Daisy’s friend, Jordan Baker. Over time a love triangle of Daisy, Tom, and Gatsby develops with Tom’s mistress growing jealous. Missing his Middle American roots Nick is left to contemplate the carelessness and moral decay of the privileged rich. For more information on the library’s book club call 928-2080.
